Just imagine if this 1970 Buick GS Stage 1 was, say, an LS6 Chevelle. It wouldn't last three minutes in the showroom at this price. Well, the good news is that this is a real code 46 GS 455 and it's packing a Stage 1 upgrade that makes it the biggest, baddest torque factory to ever come out of Flint. Buicks were cars for grown-ups, and the handsome code 28 Diplomat Blue on this GS looks very appropriate. Better still, it's this car's original color, now rendered in modern urethane paints so it has a great shine that'll be easy to maintain. It was repainted in 2003 and is holding up well with only about 10,000 miles since the restoration, and despite the understated look, this one has a serious predatory vibe on the street. Of course, the GS wing out back kind of gives it away, as well as the functional ram air hood, but there are no stripes or other flashing give-aways like on the other GM intermediates, just a set of subtle GS Stage 1 emblems on the front fenders to warn potential competitors on the street. This one also wore a white top when it was new, but that, too, was replaced in 2003, and I think you'll agree that basic black on the mature Buick is definitely the right choice. Handsome and unusual blue buckets are also this car's original combination (code 181) and they look fantastic. Fresh seat covers, matching GS door panels, and correct carpets all maintain the Buick's upscale look and feel inside, and you really can see a difference between this car and, say, a Chevelle. It definitely feels more luxurious. Don't let that fool you, however, because this one still packs a heck of a punch; it's just a softer silk glove for that particular iron fist. A center console with a horseshoe shifter, a leather-wrapped wheel, and clean factory gauges are joined by a trio of aftermarket dials under the dash, as well as a great-sounding AM/FM/CD stereo head unit in the original slot. Options like a remote mirror and factory A/C shouldn't be a surprise on a Buick, and this one even has custom GS-logo floor mats that match the carpets almost perfectly, a nice touch. In back, the trunk is in great shape with original spatter-finish paint and plenty of room for a weekend road trip. While the 455 under the hood is not the #'s matching motor, it's also not selling for a #'s matching price (or anywhere close to that). An era correct 455 block built to somewhat Stage 1 specs, it has a very authentic look, complete with a chrome air cleaner, reproduction decals, and bright Dante Red paint on the block. An Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor probably helps build power and there are upgraded ignition components to help light the fires. The transmission is a TH400 3-speed automatic that doesn't seem to mind the torque, and the 3.42 gears out back are a great compromise between acceleration and easy cruising. Big Flowmaster mufflers and an X-pipe work with long-tube headers to maintain a suitably Buick soundtrack and with big sway bars at both ends, the big Buick is a capable handler, too. Classic Buick road wheels are some of the best-looking OEM wheels of all and carry fat 235/60/15 BFGoodrich T/A radials. This is a heck of a lot of car for the money, and while it's not a pedigree car, any Stage 1 Buick with a big block demands respect. This car be verified through the GS Historical Society (Wayne Roberts) as being an authentic Stage 1 car. The upscale features and look are just icing on the cake. This cool convertible was originally sold in Dallas, Texas at Roberts Buick in 1970. See picture of the last window stickers that said 1995/96 Texas. It sat in a barn/garage for 20 years until this year! I was able to get it up and running in January. It has fuel delivery issue, transmission leaks and needs to be rebuilt as does engine. To get it running it has new spark plugs, fresh oil change and doesn't appear to leak oil. Original Radiator Rebuilt and in great shape. I was able to drive it around the block a few times until she stalled out. Needs fuel line cleaned out and gas tank cleaned out better. Also needs carb rebuilt, new fuel pump, and new starter. Has antique plates until 2018, plates do not come with vehicle. Clear Texas Title in my name. Look around and you will see similar 1970 Buick Skylark GS Tribute cars that have been FULLY RESTORED that are NOW for sale for up to $80,000 just like this one I am offering you unrestored right now. Make no mistake, this is one you can buy, restore, and sell for MUCH MORE! Car is Not Running, and radiator, belts, water pump, and fan were removed for new water pump to be installed. Comes with two sets of keys AND the ORIGINAL OWNERS MANUAL plus all paperwork and documents from previous owner, as well as receipts for what I've done to it so far. I was told this was a one owner car before me with the original numbers matching engine, it appears to be as such. I have not verified this info. Odometer Shows 57,000 probably 157,000 true mileage unknown. Please ask questions BEFORE bidding. The very FIRST PERSON to make a best offer of $5,500 wins this car and this auction will be over. I will accept that offer and no less. No games, No hassles, No less, and No BS please, no lower price negotiations in person after sale are allowed. I only sell to continental US. Thank you for looking. Disclaimer: The last three pictures in ad are NOT this vehicle, they are to show you what it could look like when fully restored. Similar to GTO convertible and Chevelle Convertible and all GM A body vehicles. Barn Find Sold As Is Needs Complete Restoration and is NOT running. Factory AC, Power Steering, Power Brakes, Power Automatic Top Still works! It goes down fine, sticks on way up. To be honest it needs new top. Below window is torn with dry rot around rear window. All tires hold air for transport. Vehicle does not come with battery. It has rust, dings, dents, etc. Entire Vehicle Needs Complete Rebuild. (Engine, Transmission, and Body.) Sold AS IS. $1000 Paypal Deposit is non-refundable, serious buyers only please. This awesome ride can EASILY be cloned and turned into a Gran Sport Tribute Car, or as some spell it Buick Grand Sport, or into a Buick GS, Buick GS Stage 1, Buick GS Stage One, or Buick GSX Convertible Clone. All you have to do is replace the rusty hood with a Buick GS Hood with Scoops, add Buick GS Grille, add Buick GS Emblems, add Buick GS Rallye Rims, take out the original numbers matching buick 350 engine to rebuild it or replace it with a Buick GS 455 Engine and Buick GS 455 Air Filter and BAM! Offering great V8 performance, a bunch of luxury features, and awesome A-body styling, it makes you wonder why anyone would ever pay a premium for a Chevelle. In truth, this is a good, clean, honest car. It isn't a show car, it isn't a rest-mod, and isn't trying to be a GS clone. Instead, it's been properly maintained its entire life and looks great because of it. It might have been repainted at one point, but it's hard to say; the overall look is quite good but there's a bit of patina to it, and I personally wouldn't change a thing. The color is called Trumpet Gold and it's the right choice given the time period in which it was built and the fact that it is an upmarket Buick. It does not appear to have ever been wrecked or rusty, and the panel alignment is quite good, including the doors which are notorious for sagging on these cars after a few years. Instead, this sucker fits together really well. The trim is probably original and showing a bit of age, but again it's appropriate to the car's overall look and replacing one part might start an avalanche of replacing everything, and you know where THAT inevitably leads. No, better to leave it the way it is and simply enjoy because everyone you meet will think it's a gorgeous car. The black interior is unquestionably original and in remarkable condition, perhaps the best proof of this car's comfortable life. Seat covers, door panels, and even the carpets are vintage 1969 and showing only minor wear and signs of use. That funky Buick steering wheel is unlike anything else in the GM stable at the time and the gauges are still crisply market and very legible. Auxiliary instruments were tucked under the dash in the usual fashion, and while the original Sonomatic AM radio still lives in the dash, there's a modern AM/FM/CD stereo hidden in the glove box. Factory A/C is a welcome sight and it uses R134a refrigerant so it'll be easy to service in the future. The black power convertible top is new and features a glass rear window. The mat in the trunk is also original and a little frayed around the edges, but it's otherwise in nice shape and includes a full-sized spare with original cover. Buick's own 350 cubic inch V8 provides big torque from a small package and a unique sound that's music to Buick lovers' ears. The bright Dante Red engine block and accessories are simply too nice to be original, so the engine bay has obviously been detailed in the recent past. Upgrades include an HEI ignition system and dual exhaust, but otherwise it seems pretty stock. A TH350 3-speed automatic transmission powers the original 10-bolt rear end, and just a single glance at the underside of this car is all the proof you'll need of its excellent condition. Sporty Buick road wheels are fitted with 205/75/14 whitewall radials, so it's ready to cruise. This Buick offers lots of top-down fun for a fraction of the price of the other guys, and the performance will likely surprise you. Become a Buick fan and take this one for a drive.
