Four new Nitto Invo tires were recently installed. Since it was driven a few miles, I can't say 100% of the tread is left, so we will call it 99% of tread life remaining.265/35ZR-18 in the front295/35ZR-18 in the back I want to sell, I don't need to sell. My family is only growing, so it is becoming near impossible to find the time to drive this baby. So it would be nice to pass this on to someone who will appreciate and care for it as much as I have. Here are some of the Spec sheets for the 351R Block Spec sheet Here is a few pages from the Saleen Book which document the car's serial and build number as #97-0140. The book is titled "THE SALEEN BOOK" 20 years of Saleen Mustangs & Owners Registry 1984-2003" As per the info in the Saleen Book,there were Only 108+/- Saleen S281 convertibles made in 1997 in addition to about 88 that were made for and rented from Hertz in the Southern (Florida) and West coast tourist destination cities. As you would figure....Most of the Hertz cars have been beat up, with hi miles, abused drivetrains, and worked on by entry level mechanics, leaving very few clean and well kept 1997 Saleen S281 convertibles available. Earlier in the ad I listed some details on the motor. I'd like to take a minute to present some pictures of what is one very well built and well thought out combination. In todays day it is very easy for someone to grab a thrift mart Chinese Turbo system and slap it on a 4.6 Saleen or Cobra. I see them all the time. These are examples of kits where quality comes 2nd to price. You can expect poor clearances on the impeller and exhaust wheels, waste gate diaphragms that stick under heavy boost, unstable welds and overall unpredictable results. This Saleen was completely hand crafted by one shop before the days of these cookie cutter kits. The Turbo's and wastegate set up was carefully chosen and each piece was skillfully welded in with no expense spared. Your cookie cutter Turbo kit and stock 4.6 block will likely produce MAX results where this car makes the same power on a conservative tune and mild boost. While the car only makes 625 RWHP now ( APRX 750 At motor) the 351 Windsor based block with prestigious internals and fresh Viper Spec 6 speed can handle over 1000HP. What this means is that you have the ability to adjust the boost to 25psi and have the car re-tuned to accommodate the boost. There is currently no tune for this power it would have to be done on a Dyno by a qualified tuner. The current owner was completely satisfied at it's current power level and chose to go no further. This also means that this car was never stressed or ridden hard. This car has never been down the track but should be capable of some respectable mid to low 10's in full street trim. Now I would like to take a minute to discuss some of the issues or concerns with this car. Although it shows like a queen it does have some fairly normal wear and tear from the years. Some of it cosmetic and a few other things I will point out. We had a very detailed 3rd party inspection done on the car last week. It will sound like a long list but it's really just me putting every single thing out on front street. You will not get any surprises when this car arrives. If you need further information on anything specific or need any pictures please feel free to ask before the auction ends. Known concernsThe factory Saleen ground effects have some splits in the seems. The worst of it is the passenger side rear and a little on the drivers side front. Pics are included. The Custom made Turbo bulge hood has been a home for 2 hot turbo's for many years. Each bulge has began to crack in several places around the bulges. Pics with measurements are included. The hood would either have to be refinished by a body shop or replaced with something new and different all together. It's fully functional and looks good but the cracks are noticeable and will not be missed while looking at it. The rear bumper has a 1 inch by 1/2 inch mark in it. It's been touched up but it's noticeable still. Pics are includedOne of the factory Saleen wheels has a curb rash. The others are fine but may have a little chrome wear on the concealed insides. The exhaust hangs low. It's not an issue and it's fully functional but something to be noted. Especially if transporting on a car carrier. The front radiator support appears to have been removed and rewelded back in at some point. The car has No accident history or repair signs, a clean title and clean carfax. I believe it was removed at the time of intercooler and turbo piping installation and put back on when completed. Most Forced induction cars get built the same way due to all the tubing placement. The vehicle braking system can sometimes be hit or miss. It should be checked out by a qualified mechanic. Internet research showed 100's of results for the same factory Hydroboost problems are common for this 96+ Platform. The Air condition is mostly all there but it was unhooked at the time of build. It wouldn't take much to complete the system but it's not functioning as it sits.The expensive aftermarket Recarro seats from Saleen are not power as indicated in the factory equipment generated from the vin. The car normally idles like stock. However, it's been moved around a few times for pictures, ad information, inspections etc... It may idle a little rougher due to the circumstances. The speedo may read higher due to the gearing in the Viper Trans and rear. The factory tach is inaccurate due to the MSD High output ignition system. An Aftermarket Tach would be the best answer but current owner wanted minimum gauges. There are cracks on the rear seat tops. 17 year old Convertible tends to promote this.The rear battery box is missing it's metal cover. Again, maybe a long list of small things but it is our intentions to promote all the details of this car whether good OR bad! This car will make someone a very happy owner and the little things associated with age and a High HP car are what keeps it from being a $30k - 50k car. We also have the original parts that can be seen in the magazine coverage. This will include the 2 tiered S-351 Wing, Extra taillight bezels and red racing seatbelts. For sale is my 2011 Ford Mustang in kona blue. I have the title. No repair work has ever been done to it, and it needs nothing. I've owned it since July 2013, when there was only 1,250 miles (and the first owner was a Catholic nun who sold it after going to a nursing home---I've got a picture to prove it). It now has 30,000 miles, mostly highway. This is my third vehicle, and I really don't need it. I'm selling it to buy an RV & tow vehicle to take my large family camping. Here's the list of mods: 1. 93 octane tune (which can easily be changed) with free tunes for life from BAMA, the SCT handheld tuner, and a dashboard plaque that states that it was professionally tuned, listing the number. 2. BBK 73mm throttle body. 3. Borla ATAK CAT-back mufflers. (All the roar when you get on it, with none of the drone). 4. GT500-style rear spoiler, professionally painted by American Muscle. 5. Summer tires (I can get you the specs) with almost one season on staggered rims (both pictured). I've babied these tires---no burnouts or slides. The rims look good but are not show quality. 6. For winters, your choice of either: - Four Blizzaks snow tires mounted/balanced on four matching chrome-ish rims (OEM from a GT; not pictured; I think they're 20s with one season of wear). The rims look good but are not show quality. OR - Four Blizzaks snow tires mounted/balanced on four matching chrome Saleen-style rims. (I think they're 19s with two or three seasons on them.) The rims look good but are not show quality. 7. Two 1.5 Inch rear wheel spacers (pictured) and two 1/4 inch front wheel spacers (the snow tires rubbed a tad in the parking lot when turning hard left or right). 8. Powerstop slotted/drilled rotors and ceramic brake pads (about 85%). 9. Professionally installed wired backup camera and 4-inch dedicated color screen. (Turns on/off automatically in reverse.) 10. OEM audio (single CD, Aux, or Radio) is greatly enhanced with a brand new high quality sub amp (something very adequate) and two 10-inch Sony sub woofer speakers in a fuzzy sub woofer cabinet. The sub is not permanently installed so you can quickly remove/replace for extra trunk storage space. I installed a protective metal screen covering on the sub cabinet. 11. The aux cable (1/8 " headphone jack) has been professionally installed to route through the internals of the dashboard (coming out near the air vents at the receiver), so that the wires aren't loose and dangling out of the center console where the input port is. 12. Black dashboard cover (to eliminate dashboard glare on the windshield). 13. Four gray sacrificial floor mats in addition to the two factory black mats. 14. Black faux leather steering wheel cover. 15. Chrome strut tower brace. Condition: excellent. - It's never needed any work done, it's never broken down, and never been in an accident. - Normal minor blemishes for a car with 30,000 miles, but no parking lot dings. - It took a stone up front, but I've got touch up paint being shipped to me soon. - All the appropriate internal and external surfaces were painstakingly touched up in July 2013 with "Wipe New" ("...wipe once and protect for years..." from UV damage and oxidation). - I've only ever used synthetic motor oil. I can give you the receipts. I've never dyno'd it, but I figure my mods put it at about 325hp or 330. I've owned a 2001 Audi A4, a 2006 v6 'stang, a 2007 'stang with a tune, and this is quite a beast by comparison! (It rides way better than the prior year stands with its upgraded suspension. And the next generation 3.7 liter V6 is a amazing fear of engineering: all that power with such excellent fuel economy.) A little bit of pedal will go a long way and make the Borla ATAK roar. 1995 Ford SVT 'Cobra R'Back in the heydays of the Ponycar era, Ford made a very limited quantity of performance versions of its Mustang to compete in various forms of automotive events. These performance versions, called "R" model Mustangs, were something special. They offered upgraded handling, braking, lighter weight, and, of course, engine power. Today, these Cobra R models are highly sought after and increasingly rarer collector cars. They are examples of the Mustang taken to its best performance, and as such, they command a high dollar in the collector car market. It was with great enthusiasm to many when Ford's Special Vehicle Team (SVT) revealed it would once again offer a new limited-run 1995 Cobra R. In addition to all the special performance upgrades the car would receive, the biggest news was the engine. Cam, heads, and dyno tune were added around 2500 miles. I change engine oil every 2000 miles (or at least once per year) with Mobile 1 synthetic and filter. The cooling system and power steering fluids were flushed and cleaned, transmission fluid changed, rear axle fluid changed and replaced with correct Ford oils at 25000 miles. This is the 10th collectible car I've owned and currently desire to sell. I know of no issues with the car. I am selling as I have moved onto other hobbies and interests. This is a great car for a collector who also enjoys to drive a car to shows as well. . .and it gathers a crowd..! The car is in great mechanical shape, engine does not smoke nor use fluids (other than gasoline), transmission shifter is tight, transmission is quiet (no gear slap) rear is quiet with no noises. The car has current Pennsylvania state safety and emissions inspections through June 2016 How are the tires and brakes?Tires have just about 1500 miles on them and have a very nice wear pattern. How is the cam and exhaust)The heads, cam, and retune netted about 15% power improvement (basically rear wheel horsepower is now very close to original Ford rated crankshaft output).the roller cam is very similar to the original flat tappet (intake/exhaust open/close, intake lobe centerline, lobe separation angle. I wanted to preserve the original idle quality and sound which this cam did exactly. The engine has a lot of low end torque and a very strong mid-range. The side exhaust has a nice thump at idle, which smooths out at s highway cruise rpm...the exhaust does not drone and I would say it's very similar to a 63-67 corvette with side pipes; it is quite reasonable, tolerable, and fun while adding to the cars period heritage. How did the mileage get on the car?I enjoy driving. The car went back and forth to Florida a few times where it then resided in my parents garage. Also went to the NJ and Maryland beaches several times. Skyline Drive. The New York State Adurondak Scenic Highway; several charity and mustang cruises, and a few other very nice drives through some amazing scenery. Has the car ever been tracked or raced?
